Thank you for this. As someone who is supposed to be considered a “creative” I’ve often struggled with this. I think for me it’s the expectations I’ve put on myself to perform rather than allowing the creativity that the Creator has allowed the created to flow as a result of ______ (enter life situations here). As the Imago Dei, we have a responsibility, a commission to reflect the light (and salt) that we have. Why? Ultimately for His glory. But that looks different for each of us. I like how you said to just “start”. It’s not disappointing or a disservice if I’m not on stage in front of thousands WHEN I’m using my gifts to serve my family first THEN my local church/community. God is being glorified.
This was my particular struggle but in my journey I’ve found that being obedient to the urgency of the few has brought greater joy and reward than trying to fulfill an expectation of being creative for the benefit of many.
One more quick thought:
1) Knowing that God knows our wants/needs and that He cares about what we care about, when we go back to seeking first His kingdom and righteousness, these things can be added to us.
Ultimately, if we want to create and honor God with creativity AND seek Him, He’ll give us the opportunity to do so and we can redeem the time. Great post. Good morning friend!
